Climate Camp Updates
Two weeks to go - Climate Camp June update
Posted June 25th, 2008 by squidThere are now only two weeks to go until Climate Camp and people from all over Australia are preparing to travel to Newcastle to take part in the camp. In Newcastle we are busily pulling together the physical logistics for the camp – it's all getting practical from here!
Don't forget to check our list of what to bring before you set off. The most important things to remember are warm and waterproof clothes, bedding, your own eating implements and your own ideas to contribute to the mass action.
Peaceful Mass Action
The highlight of the camp – the mass action will be a moment to stand together and say 'no more' to coal and 'yes' to renewable energy solutions! Camp participants will be joined by others from Newcastle, Sydney and beyond. Up to a thousand people representing a broad spectrum of our society will peacefully and collectively take action to stop coal trains heading for the world's largest coal port. The action will be colouful, festive and child-friendly, with arrestable and non-arrestable roles. Meet 10am at Islington Park (close to Hamilton Station) for a march to the Carrington coal terminal. There will be speakers, activities and food but come prepared with some of your own provisions and creativity!
